Already offered on Xbox Series since the release of the machine last November, the performance mode in 120 frames per second finally lands on PlayStation 5 for Rocket League players.
As announced on the PlayStation Blog, this Wednesday, August 18, an update will allow you to choose between the two modes already offered on Rocket League items Xbox Series. All you have to do is choose your preferred mode in the display settings. As on the Microsoft machine, the performance mode lowers the resolution to 2688x1512 to ensure 120 frames per second in HDR quality, while the interface resolution remains in 4K.
Quality
4K resolution at 60 FPS and HDR quality. HDR technology requires an HDR10 compatible display and an HDMI 2.0 cable or better. A 4K compatible display is required to enjoy this resolution. If you are using a 1080p display, the game's resolution will drop from 4K to 1080p.
Performance
Game resolution is 2688 × 1512 (i.e. 70% of full 4K version) at 120 FPS and HDR quality. Game interface resolution is 4K with buying Rocket League items. 4K compatible display is required to enjoy of 4K. If you are using a 1080p display, the game resolution will increase from 2688 × 1512 HDR to 1080p. 120 FPS frame rate requires a compatible display as well as an ultra high speed HDMI 2.1 cable.
By the way, August 18 will also see the start of a collaboration with Ratchet & Clank. This free content including the Ratchet & Clank decal for Octane, the Turbo Negatron Collider, a Clank rooftop balloon and a Ratchet rooftop balloon will be available to all PS4 and PS5 players until January 3, 2022.
