Center for Prevention Services offers vital support to people who use substances by connecting them to resources tailored to their individual needs. ​The QCHR Health Hub offers a safe space for participants to foster connection, improve health and wellness, and affirm dignity. ​ Each participant receives a free membership to access supplies and connect with community resources. Recognizing that people who use substances deserve adequate access to care, Center for Prevention Services—through QCHR—works to strengthen communities and keep all people safe.

Through QCHR, Center for Prevention Services distributes supplies to prevent the sharing or reuse of items that can increase the risk of viral and bacterial exposure. Syringe service programs have been shown to reduce new HIV and Hepatitis C infections by up to 50% by providing sterile syringe access, safer use provisions, and education. Syringe access is available at the QCHR Health Hub and through mobile outreach—via pop‑up events and by request—ensuring individuals receive support wherever they are.
The QCHR team distributes free naloxone kits to community members and staff of local organizations. Naloxone, the active ingredient in Narcan and other overdose reversal medications, is a proven life‑saving tool that empowers people to respond effectively in the event of an overdose. Every QCHR Participant who receives a kit is trained in its use, ensuring they are prepared to provide support when it matters most.
Center for Prevention Services offers free HIV, viral hepatitis, and syphilis testing at our QCHR Health Hub and in community locations where services are most needed. For individuals who test positive or may be at risk, linkage navigators provide critical support by connecting participants to care, accompanying them to appointments, and offering advocacy throughout the process.
Center for Prevention Services trains all participants on the safe disposal of used supplies, ensuring that returns are handled responsibly and without risk. To support this process, the QCHR team provides disposal containers directly to participants through their free membership, making it easier to safely store and return used items.
QCHR regularly supports wound care needs through referrals to medical providers and through the provision of wound care supplies necessary to protect the health of people with injuries or wounds related to harsh additives in an unregulated substance supply impacting the skin. These services also build trust by connecting individuals to broader health resources and ensuring that people most impacted by health inequities receive compassionate, accessible care.
QCHR helps protect the health of people who use drugs by providing safer sex supplies, including a wide range of condoms and non-hormonal options. This support is important because it reduces the spread of infectious diseases and prevents unintended pregnancies, promoting overall well-being and safer choices.

QCHR offers substance testing services to help protect community health and safety. Our staff carry specialized supplies that can detect harmful additives in substances—additives that may increase the risk of overdose and cause more damaging side effects. By providing this service, QCHR empowers individuals with vital information, supports harm reduction, and promotes safer choices.
